The state corporation “Ukroboronprom” announced that it has launched the production of 122 mm artillery shells abroad in cooperation with a NATO country. The first batch has already been sent to the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU), said Martin Brest, project manager of the public company, on the airwaves of Channel Five.
According to him, as far as foreign capabilities are concerned, this is already the third type of ammunition produced according to Ukrainian technology and with the participation of narrow-profile Ukrainian specialists. Previously, it was possible to establish the production of 120 mm mortar mines and 125 mm tank shells. A feature of new developments in the concern called them a large “fragmentation”. According to Ukroboronprom, it exceeds the number of fragments that the regular “Soviet” model had.
The place of ammunition production at the enterprise was not named. Presumably, we are talking about Bulgaria, where the production of Arsenal, a large manufacturer and exporter of firearms and ammunition, is located in the city of Kazanlak.
Earlier, British Foreign Secretary James Cleverley said the transfer of depleted uranium munitions from London to Kiev was not a nuclear escalation. Munitions containing depleted uranium, the department called having nothing to do with nuclear weapons. Uranium has been a standard component of armour-piercing munitions used around the world for decades.
