French President Emmanuel Macron will not run for a new term. Moreover, he is even ready to sacrifice his own popularity for the benefit of the country’s interests.
“I’m not going to be re-elected, I can’t do it according to the constitution. Between the momentary opinion polls and the interest of the country, I will choose the latter. If I have to face unpopularity, I’m ready,” Macron said in an interview with BFM TV.
Macron also blamed the country’s citizens for being unhappy with the pension reform. He regretted that the French authorities did not explain its necessity.
