Qatar Chamber: Trade exchange with Russia last year amounted to 566 million riyals

Engineer Ali bin Abdullatif Al-Misnad, member of the Board of Directors of Qatar Chamber, confirmed that the volume of trade exchange between Qatar and Russia last year amounted to 566 million riyals, noting the distinguished relations between the two countries in the economic and commercial field, and the agreements and memorandums of understanding in this field.

This came during the Qatari-Russian business meeting, which was held via videoconference today, with the participation of a number of representatives of Qatari and Russian companies in various sectors.

Al-Misnad said: Qatar is considered one of the largest Gulf countries that have investments in Russia, noting that it was the guest country at the St. Partnership agreements between the two sides.

He explained that during the conference, more than 60 cooperation agreements and memorandums of understanding were signed between Qatari and Russian companies and institutions in the fields of business, investment, trade, sports, tourism, education and others.

The Qatar Chamber board member also stressed the interest of Qatari business owners to enhance cooperation with their Russian counterparts, as well as identifying available investment opportunities, as well as welcoming Russian investments in all sectors, especially in light of the availability of advanced infrastructure, appropriate legislation, and an attractive investment climate.

He said that the Qatar Chamber encourages Qatari investors to enter into partnerships and establish trade alliances and investment projects with their Russian counterparts in a way that benefits the economies of the two friendly countries.

For his part, Mr. Vardrian Surin, Vice-President of the Moscow Chamber of Commerce and Industry, said: The meeting brings together a distinguished group of Qatari and Russian businessmen to discuss joint cooperation, pointing to the interest of both sides in strengthening cooperation and establishing effective partnerships that benefit the economies of the two countries.

He pointed to the cooperation of the two sides in various sectors, including retail, hospitality and energy, expressing his hope to see more partnership in other sectors, such as advanced technology, especially since its opportunities are available in Russia.

In turn, Ms. Tatiana Rashkevich, Deputy Director General of the Russian-Qatari Business Council said: The Council is keen to organize this event to provide a platform for business owners from both sides, to discuss prospects for joint cooperation, and to explore available investment opportunities.

During the meeting, both sides made a number of presentations by a number of Qatari and Russian companies operating in various fields.
