The US military launched a series of airstrikes on targets in Syria in response to a drone attack on a coalition base

The US military launched a series of airstrikes on targets in Syria on Thursday. According to Washington, the objects attacked could have links with the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).

The strike followed an Iranian drone attack on a US-led international counterterrorism coalition base in northeastern Syria, the Pentagon said. As a result, one US contract soldier was killed and six other soldiers were injured.

“At the direction of President Joe Biden, I have authorized U.S. Central Command forces to launch precision airstrikes in eastern Syria tonight against facilities used by groups associated with Iran’s IRGC. The airstrikes were carried out in response to today’s attack, as well as a series of recent attacks on coalition forces in Syria by groups associated with the IRGC,” the US Department’s press office said. of Defense quoting Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin.

Two days ago, the Syrian airport in Aleppo was hit by Israeli airstrikes. The Israeli armed forces fired four missiles at the target.
