Turkish presidential candidate Perincek has promised to withdraw the country from NATO if he wins the elections

Turkish politician Dogu Perincek, who leads the Rodina party and is a candidate for the presidency of Turkey, has said he intends to withdraw the country from NATO if it wins the presidential election due in may. He shared these intentions in an interview with RIA Novosti.

“Under our rule, Turkey will definitely leave NATO,” he said emphatically.

The agency’s interlocutor noted that his position is linked to the existence of a threat from the military bloc against Turkey.

According to him, to date, many polls clearly show how the Turkish population actually relates to the United States. Parincek explained that about 80% of respondents express concern about Washington’s actions and perceive them as a threat. Another 70% have no doubt that strong friendly relations have been established between Russia and China.

Earlier, current Turkish leader Recep Tayyip Erdogan said that Turkey would not take sides in any armed conflict, including the Ukrainian one.

Turkey’s post-presidential candidate Perincek has vowed to pull the country out of NATO if it wins the election
