A month after the launch of the Xiaomi 13 in the West, the Asian company launched the Redmi Note 12 series in partnership, consisting of five mobile phones that cover the range of 200 to 500 euros in increments.

Alongside them has also emerged the Redmi Watch 3, a smartwatch costing just over a hundred euros that aims to satisfy all users who want to go beyond the initial wearables, such as physical monitoring bracelets or cheap smartwatches, but without spending a few. hundreds of euros.

All but one of these products are available from this Thursday on the brand’s official channels.

Features of Redmi Note 12, Note 12 5G, Note 12 Pro 5G and Note 12 Pro 5G+

The Xiaomi Redmi Note 12 line is divided into two completely different groups. On the one hand, two Pro models that share many characteristics. On the other hand, the standard models

How are the Pro models different?

The differences between Redmi Note 12 Pro and Redmi Note 12 Pro+ 5G are limited to four aspects: photography, charging speed, thickness and weight.

Photo: The Pro+ 5G model features a 200MP main sensor, while the Pro 5G version opts for a 50MP IMX766.

Charging speed: The most advanced model is 120W, while the Pro 5G is 67W.

Weight and thickness: 210 grams and 8.98 mm thickness for the Pro+ 5G model; 187 grams and 7.9 mm for the Pro 5G model.

How are the standard models different?

In this case, the differences are more noticeable. Changes have been made to the main camera, processor, size, RAM, and connectivity.

Photo: The 5G version has a 48MP camera, while the main 4G version has a 50MP camera.

Processor: We have the Snapdragon 4 Gen 1 in 5G model and the Snapdragon 685 in 4G version.

Dimensions: Despite having the same screen, the 4G model is slightly narrower, thinner and lighter than the 5G model.

RAM: The Redmi Note 12 5G version sold in Spain has 6 GB of RAM, while the 4G version has 4 GB.

Connectivity: The most noticeable difference in this case is 5G, which is only available in one of the two models. This is in addition to Bluetooth, which is 5.0 in the most basic model and 5.1 in the most advanced model.

Overall, the Redmi Note 12 series offers a few improvements, but none of them show a significant leap from the previous generation. However, this does not only apply to Xiaomi, but to the whole industry. The jumps are getting smaller and smaller every year. The macroeconomic context does not favor mid or low-end products either, where profitability has always been at the limit.

However, it should be noted that Xiaomi is standardizing technologies in the lower segments which, until relatively recently, were exclusive to the higher segments. For example: even the cheapest Redmi Note 12 4G now has a 120Hz AMOLED display. This component, among other things, makes everything smoother.

Another example of these high-end tablets is the 200-megapixel sensor built into the Redmi Note 12 Pro + 5G, which has so far only been found in the Xiaomi 12T Pro.

Xiaomi has also taken a few steps forward when it comes to storage. For example: the Redmi Note 12 5G, which succeeded the Redmi Note 11S 5G, has a 128 GB portion, while the previous model had 64 GB. The same goes for the Redmi Note 12 Pro 5G, which is now comes with 256GB of storage as standard.

Finally, it can be considered a victory that Xiaomi has finally made without low-resolution depth sensors, whose true usefulness – apart from marketing – has always been questioned.
