RFU chief: IOC helping Russia get back into world football

– Published on:

The International Olympic Committee (IOC) is involved in the work to bring Russia back into world football, RFU Secretary General Maxim Mitrofanov has said. His words are quoted by RB Sport.

According to Mitrofanov, an appropriate group has been created for this purpose, with which the IOC works in parallel, advising FIFA,Football,Soccer and UEFA. According to Mitrofanov, the IOC also works with the Russian Olympic Committee and the RFU communicates with the IOC through FIFA,Football,Soccer and UEFA.

“It is the position of the myopic that Russia should be eliminated. Without Russia, world sport does not represent the importance it has with Russia. You cannot take a country like Russia and ignore it , including in terms of sport,” he said.

Russian clubs and national teams have been suspended from participation in international tournaments after the start of a special operation in Ukraine. Late last year, a working group was set up to discuss Russia’s possible transition to the Asian Football Confederation.
