Accra: At least eight people have been killed in a head-on collision between a minibus and a truck in southern Ghana. An official has confirmed this. The accident happened on Saturday on the Kopong-Tema Highway in Lower Manya Krobo Municipality of the Eastern Region, said Jennifer Na Yarley Quay, Eastern Regional Division Commander of the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS).
Mr Quay said six people died on the spot in the accident and two seriously injured were rushed to Aques Government Hospital, where they later died. Eyewitnesses said the minibus tried to avoid a bus parked on the road but collided with a truck coming from the opposite direction. The crash is under investigation.
