Washington: US Senate Intelligence Committee Chairman Mark Warner has said that President Joe Biden is in favor of a bipartisan bill to ban the Chinese video-sharing app TikTok for security reasons. When asked in a show whether the US government wants to pass the draft law, Warner said, ‘I think the Biden administration is in favor of this bill. He said the US Foreign Affairs Committee had approved a bill in early March that would allow the US government to ban TikTok or any other foreign app deemed a threat to national security.
He said that not only could TikTok endanger the privacy of US users, but it could also be a propaganda tool. He said that “one of my biggest fears is how the channel could be used for propaganda purposes or disinformation.” May provide protection against anxiety.
There are currently over 15 million TikTok users in the US. More than half of US states have restricted access to TikTok from government tools due to security concerns about user data being used by the Chinese government.
