In Vakhtangov presented their award – “The Theater Man”. It happened on International Theater Day, under the guise of “Theater Night.”
The prize was created in 2015, is awarded every two years, and the winner (and, as practice has shown, he is not alone during this period) is chosen by the whole team exclusively by secret ballot. The most important thing is that not only an artist or a representative of the creative profession can become a laureate, but also a costume designer, a make-up artist, an administrator and also a business executive.
“It is important for us to contribute to the common cause, dedication and selfless service of the Vakhtangov Theater,” theater director Kirill Krok told the The Eastern HeraldObserver ahead of the ceremony. — Each voter completes a questionnaire and nominates five of their candidates. The prize is awarded to the one who receives the most votes from their peers.
So, the oldest member of Vakhtangov Alexei Kuznetsov, actors Vladimir Simonov and Yulia Rutberg, head of the sound engineering workshop Ruslan Knushevitsky, chief administrator Daria Borisova and head of the supply department Sofya Krakovskaya became the “Person of the Theater” -2023. The director of the “Person of the Year” ceremony, actor and director Eldar Tramov is among the winners.
The Vakhtangov Prize is a gold and gemstone brooch in the shape of a lilac flower, which Yevgeny Vakhtangov was so fond of. That evening, as part of the ceremony, another prize was awarded – named after Vladimir Etush – “A ticket to life”. It was created by the widow of the famous artist Elena Etush for the best debut on the stage Vakhtangov. This year, a bronze statuette with a bust of Etush and 50,000 rubles (from personal funds) was received by a graduate student of the Boris Shchukin Theater Institute, Polina Rafeeva. While still a student, she was already invited to the troupe of the famous theater, and only this season she performed two main roles in performances on the New and Simonovskaya stages of the theater.
