Biologically active additives containing a potent substance sibutramine were found in a parcel from Kazakhstan by employees of the Vladimir customs in cooperation with the UNK of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs in the Vladimir region. At the time of receipt of the international mail item, a resident of Vladimir was arrested.
“Various food supplements were found in the package, for a total of 165 capsules. Examination showed that they contained sibutramine with a total weight of more than 73 grams, – explained Igor Gubanin, Deputy Head of Customs of Vladimir. “Biologically active additives containing potent substances are prohibited from crossing the border of the Russian Federation.”
Vladimir Customs initiated criminal proceedings under Part 1 of Art. 226.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (smuggling of potent substances), which provides for imprisonment from 3 to 7 years with a fine of up to 1 million rubles or the amount of income of the convicted person for a period of up to 5 years.
