Ambassador Antonov called the US position on the deployment of tactical nuclear weapons in Belarus duplicitous

Russian Ambassador to Washington Anatoly Antonov noted that the statements of the US State Department in the framework of Russian-Belarusian cooperation in the military-nuclear sphere are a vivid example of the duplicity of US policy.

Recall that earlier State Department Press Secretary Vedant Patel said that Russia would undermine strategic stability and undermine arms control.

According to him, the representatives of the White House have a very short memory, since it is Washington that has been systematically destroying the legal basis for bilateral relations in the stratosphere for a long time.

“Patel’s statement, in the context of our president’s remarks on Russian-Belarusian cooperation in the military and nuclear sphere, is a vivid example of the duplicity of American policy,” Antonov added.

He specified that the White House strongly supports the deployment of tactical nuclear weapons in five countries which are not nuclear powers (Turkey, Netherlands, Italy, Germany, Belgium).

Among other things, representatives from Washington coordinate nuclear policy with France and Great Britain within the framework of the North Atlantic Alliance.
