The six provinces of Hubei, Hunan, Jiangxi, Anhui, Henan and Shanxi are located in central China. During the period when China’s eastern region took the lead in development and the western development strategy was implemented, the development of central China was relatively slow. In 2006, China proposed the strategy of the rise of the central region to overcome the shortcomings of regional development. In the more than 10 years that followed, the central region entered the “fast lane” of rapid development. The problem of unbalanced and insufficient development exists in Central China. Only high-quality development can be trusted to solve this problem. On the occasion of the 15th anniversary of the implementation of the Central China Rise Strategy in 2021, the “Opinion of the State Council on Promoting High-Quality Development of Central China in the New Era” of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China was issued.
According to this, central China should persist in innovation and development, and improve independent innovation capabilities in key areas. In this context, innovation plays a particularly prominent role as the first driving force leading the high-quality development of the central region. Now the eyes of the world are fixed on Central China. Here the resources are abundant, the infrastructure is complete, and the market potential is huge. By seizing development opportunities such as the construction of the “Belt and Road” and the creation of free trade zones, central China has opened up more, and is now at the forefront of “hugging” the world. Mind you, in the face of the complex global epidemic situation and the impact of trade protectionism in recent times, the actual utilization of foreign capital in central China is still as high as 29%, surpassing China’s eastern and western regions. At present, central China, as an important part of the national mass market and space center, is ushering in new opportunities for development.
