Doctors began preparing Olympic champion Roman Kostomarov for the prosthetic process. According to a Komsomolskaya Pravda source who knows the treatment protocol for an athlete who has had multiple amputations, Kostomarov is breathing on his own.
“The ventilator has been turned off, the tracheostomy has been removed, all operations have been completed,” the source said.
Doctors need to make sure that the patient’s state of health is stable and proceed to a new stage of treatment – prostheses. Kostomarov is aware of the treatment plan and is determined to make a full recovery.
Earlier it was reported that figure skater Ilya Averbukh received a voicemail from Roman Kostomarov and said that the athlete “understands everything and is ready to go through everything, to return to his duties”.
Recall, according to the media, after a severe form of pneumonia, Roman Kostomarov began progressive sepsis with the death of the tissues of his arms and legs, the athlete underwent several operations, lost his hands, part of his legs and went blind in one eye.
