The World Health Organization is reviewing its recommendations regarding vaccination against Corona


Today, the World Health Organization announced new recommendations regarding COVID-19 vaccinations at another stage of the pandemic, noting that healthy children and adolescents may not necessarily need a vaccination dose, but that older and high-risk groups should get a dose. A booster vaccination between six months to 12 months after the last dose.

The United Nations agency said, in a statement, that the goal is to focus efforts on vaccinating those who face a higher risk of serious illness and death from (Covid-19), taking into account the high-level population immunity around the world due to the spread of infection and vaccination.

The organization defined the population at high risk as the elderly as well as young people with other significant risk factors, recommending that this group should receive an additional dose of the vaccine, either six months or 12 months after the last dose, based on several factors, such as age, and immune-related conditions. She also made it clear that healthy children and adolescents are not a priority for vaccination against COVID-19, calling on countries to consider factors such as disease burden before recommending vaccination for this group, stressing that vaccines against COVID-19 and booster doses are safe for all ages. However, the recommendations took into account other factors such as cost-effectiveness.

And she pointed out that her latest advice reflects the current picture of the disease and global levels of immunity, noting that "They should not be considered as long-term guidance as to whether annual booster vaccinations are needed". It is noteworthy that the World Health Organization had said, last September, that the end of the pandemic "In sight"However, its recommendations today come at a time when countries around the world are adopting different methods in dealing with the pandemic.
