America: University of Texas awarded industrialist Naveen Jindal

Washington: The University of Texas at Dallas in the US has honored Indian industrialist Naveen Jindal with its ‘Lifetime Achievement’ award for his achievements in the fields of industry, politics and education. Jindal, an alumnus of the 1992 batch of the University of Texas, was awarded at a ceremony held on March 25. According to a media release, Jindal is the second person after Nobel laureate Aziz Sankar to receive the ‘Lifetime Achievement’ award from the University of Texas.
As a student of the university, Jindal was the vice-president and president of the ‘Student Government’ and was awarded the Student Leader of the Year award. He has also been honored with the University’s Distinguished Alumnus Award in 2010. The ‘Lifetime Achievement’ award is the highest honor bestowed by the University of Texas on its alumni, according to the release. The award honors an alumnus who has made an extraordinary contribution to the betterment of society, played a role in the transformation of the university, and inspired others.
