Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki has asked to limit the supply of grain from Ukraine. Minister of Agriculture and Food Henryk Kowalczyk will have to carry out the decision.
The grain accumulated on the territory of the republic will be exported to North Africa and the Middle East. Originally, this is where the food was supposed to go.
“This grain is destabilizing our market today. We are aware of this and therefore the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development has been instructed to limit the flow of these cereals,” RIA Novosti quotes the policy.
Poland sent a letter to the European Commission, in which it indicated options to limit the supply of Ukrainian cereals. Previously, local farmers complained about a poor quality product, which according to the rules had to pass through the republic in transit. Instead, the grain stays in Poland and destabilizes the country’s economic situation.
Previously, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Association of International Freight Forwarders of Ukraine, Viktor Berestenko, spoke about corruption in the “grain corridor” of the Odessa region. Under the pretext of helping the armed forces, customs officers receive bribes from drivers for sending bills of lading.
