Melbourne. The Melbourne East Neighborhood Policing Team has arrested three people in connection with an alleged brawl in Federation Square in late January. Australia’s Victoria Police has informed about this in a statement on Thursday. Police said the police were present at the Khalistan referendum event at Federation Square on January 29 when two fights allegedly broke out, the first at 12.45 pm and the second at around 4.30 am.The flag pole was used as a weapon by several of the men in the tussle which resulted in physical injuries to many of the victims. Two victims, one with a hand injury and the other with a head injury. Both were treated at the scene by paramedics. Several other victims suffered injuries and required medical treatment.Two people were arrested on the day of the incidentIn both the reported incidents, the police acted quickly to separate and disperse the crowd. In the second incident, OC spray (Oleoresin Capsicum Spray, also known as pepper spray) was used. Two people were arrested on the day of the incident. Three more were arrested this week. Victoria Police said in a statement that three people arrested this week are a 23-year-old man from Kalkalo, a 39-year-old man from Strathtuloh and a 36-year-old man from Craigieburn, all three have been charged with assault and violent disorder. Further investigation underway – Victoria PoliceAll those charged this week have been bailed to appear at Melbourne Magistrates Court on 8 August. Further investigation is underway and police have been making inquiries since that day to identify and apprehend any more alleged perpetrators.
