Media reports revealed that the Moroccan national team’s delegation was subjected to racist abuse by one of the workers of the Atlas Lions Residence Hotel in Spain because of the suhoor meal, before facing the Peruvian national team yesterday, in a friendly match that ended in a goalless draw.

The account owner attached pictures of the players that he took surreptitiously, followed by racist expressions through which he expresses his anger at having to work late at night, saying: "We serve them in Ramadan because of their damned beliefs"before continuing to insult the players and conclude with"I do not respect Ramadan nor its absurdity".

In response to the incident, tweeters and activists on communication platforms denounced the racist abuse suffered by the players of the Moroccan national team, and Moroccan tweeters launched a massive campaign against the hotel, flooding it with negative evaluations through the Google Maps application.

The Spanish newspaper “AS” stated that the security forces in the capital, Madrid, took the necessary measures, and arrested the worker involved in hate speech towards the Moroccan national team players and the Islamic religion.

Tweeters wrote on Twitter, according to Al Jazeera Net: "Racism and discrimination against the Moroccan community in Spain is unacceptable. We must work together to create an environment in which all people are valued and respected, regardless of their ethnic background".

It should be noted that the hotel worker, before his arrest, published a number of stories through his account, in which he apologized to the players of the national team and the Moroccan people.

The hotel management also quickly apologized to the Moroccan national team delegation, expressing its deep dissatisfaction with this disgraceful behavior of the employee.

One of his officials said "We want to apologize to everyone who was offended by what happened. In my personal capacity, I am a Muslim and an Arab, and I celebrate the month of Ramadan like many of my colleagues in this hotel, and for this reason we feel hurt by what happened, as any Muslim in the world".

added "We condemn any racist act, we repeat our apology, and we confirm that whoever was involved in what happened does not belong to the hotel but rather works temporarily for us during peak times, and he was expelled after being placed at the disposal of the police to investigate this crime".
