The Turkish parliament approved Finland’s bid for NATO membership on Thursday, paving the way for Helsinki to join the Western alliance as the war in Ukraine rages.
The Turkish parliament is the last of the 30 NATO member parliaments to approve Finland’s membership in the Alliance, according to Reuters.
Earlier this week, the Hungarian parliament approved Helsinki’s entry into the Western alliance after months of delays.
After the outbreak of the Russian-Ukrainian conflict , Finland and Sweden requested to join the transatlantic military alliance last year, but the accession process was stopped by Turkey and Hungary.
