The US embassy in Sudan said that Ambassador John Godfrey and other embassy employees were involved in a traffic accident in the capital, Khartoum.
And the embassy added, in a statement published yesterday evening, Wednesday, on its official Facebook page, that Godfrey and his two companions suffered only minor injuries.
And she added that the ambassador and other staff were taken after the accident to a local hospital to assess their condition, noting that the ambassador left the hospital and was resting at home, according to Al-Jazeera.
Today, Thursday, the embassy published a leaflet appended to the ambassador’s name, along with a picture showing him next to the car whose front was damaged. The embassy stated that the driver of the other car was not injured.
Godfrey was appointed US ambassador to Sudan in late August 2022, to be the first US ambassador to assume his duties in nearly 25 years.
