The United States has repeatedly withdrawn from arms control treaties. The Permanent Representative of Russia to the UN, Vasily Nebenzya, said and gave relevant examples.
Thus, according to him, in 2023, Washington unilaterally terminated the treaty on anti-ballistic missiles. In 2019, the Americans withdrew from the Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces Treaty (INF Treaty).
He urged recalling the statements of the time to ascertain who was the initiator of the withdrawal from the INF treaty.
“If this has been forgotten in the United States, we can recall the sequence of steps, as well as who initiated the collapse of this treaty,” he said.
Nebenzya also pointed out that in 2020, the United States ceased to participate in the Open Skies Treaty (OST) and subsequently committed repeated violations of the Treaty on Measures to Further Reduce and Limit Strategic Offensive Arms (START). He also accused Washington of disrupting the “nuclear deal” with Iran, as well as refusing to ratify the Agreement to Adapt the Treaty on Conventional Armed Forces in Europe (CFE).
