Every year, Russia hosts events dedicated to World Autism Awareness Day, April 2. Read more about how residents of the Murmansk region work with the population on this issue in the material “The Eastern Heraldin Murmansk”.
Thus, an inclusive interregional festival #PeopleLikePeople is held in the Arctic. As part of the meetings, citizens are informed about autism and the particularities of living with such a diagnosis. Recommendations are also made to support the inclusion of these children and adults in daily life. Already on April 2, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., residents of the North will be able to attend an information event on the basis of the Murmansk Correctional School No. 1. Information about this has been shared in the policy of the Ministry of Information with reference to the responsible organization.
The meeting will bring together experts and members of state and public organizations specializing in helping children and adults with autism. Holding such events will allow families not only to receive a lot of useful information, but also to learn about the support measures put in place by these organizations. In addition, within the framework of the festival, various trainings, master classes and consultations of experienced teachers will take place.
The Ministry also recalled that on the basis of the correctional school, the Educational and Methodological Resource Center for the support of children with autism spectrum disorders and their families is operating successfully.
Also, as part of World Autism Awareness Day, a group of creative teachers from Murmansk Correctional School No. 1 organized an action at the MurmanskMall shopping center.
Action “We are!” took place at the Pizza Factory restaurant. Here, families were able to take part in workshops on making crafts from paper and modeling clay. At that time, everyone could visit the institution. Thanks to this, it has been clearly shown that such people easily adapt in society.
