Qatar Central Bank reveals: How much did the residents of Qatar spend on tourism in 2022?

The spending of the population of Qatar on tourism in 2022 increased by 22.5% on an annual basis to 44.7 billion riyals, according to the current account data for the State of Qatar in 2022 issued by the Qatar Central Bank.

CNBC quoted the bank’s data as saying that the volume of Doha’s revenues from tourism for the year 2022 increased by 70.3% to 26.4 billion riyals, while revenues from the transportation sector jumped by 71% to 70.2 billion riyals, with the support of Qatar’s hosting of the FIFA,Football,Soccer,Football,Soccer World Cup.


The jump in the revenues of the tourism and transportation sectors last year contributed to a decrease in the deficit in the account of services by 36% on an annual basis, to reach 37.2 billion riyals.

Qatar aims to increase the contribution of the tourism sector to the GDP from 7 to 12 percent by 2030 by attracting 6 million tourists annually, according to the national vision for the tourism sector.
