As part of the My Rachmaninoff Festival (6+) on Saturday April 1, the 150th anniversary of the birth of the outstanding composer, brilliant pianist and conductor Sergei Rachmaninoff was celebrated within the walls of the Karelian State Philharmonic Society. In the Great Hall, the public could appreciate the music that resonated in all the most prestigious halls in the world – the second concerto for piano and orchestra (6+). The concert soloist was the winner of three international competitions, a talented pianist from St. Petersburg Peter Laul.
In addition, also on Saturday, April 1, before the concert in the foyer of the second floor of the Karelian Philharmonic, the exhibition “Sergei Rachmaninoff:“ I am a Russian composer ”(6+) was opened, kindly provided by the Russian National Museum of Music in honor of the composer’s 150th birthday celebration. Rare documents and photographs were presented, including: student works, manuscripts of authors of little known works, as well as the family tree of the Rachmaninoff family.
Note that the “My Rachmaninoff” festival (6+) takes place in Petrozavodsk from March 31 to April 11. In 12 days, 7 concerts were prepared for residents and guests of the Karelian capital on the four main stages of Petrozavodsk. The creative teams of the republic and the guest stars of academic music will pleasantly impress the audience.
