Coinciding with the holding of its sixth session.. a global echo of the Katara Award for Quran Recitation

The Katara Award for Holy Quran Recitation gained wide fame in the horizons, and in conjunction with the holding of its sixth session, it achieved a wide resonance at the global level through large international participations. And Mr. Khaled Abdul Rahim Al-Sayed, the general supervisor of the "Katara Award for Quran Recitation"organized by the General Organization for the Cultural Village "Katara"Under the official auspices of the Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs, in a special statement to Qatar News Agency (QNA): The echo of the award has gone beyond the borders of the Arab world to the entire Islamic world, as it gained its distinction for being the first award of its kind in the sweetness of voice. He explained that the wide participation in the competitions of the award in its sixth session reflects the global status it has reached, as 1273 readers, representing 67 countries, submitted to the award, including 588 from 19 Arab countries and 685 from 48 non-Arab countries, indicating that the competitions for this session started at the beginning of the holy month of Ramadan. Among the best 100 readers, they qualified from among 1273 contestants, pointing out that the numbers indicate the wide participation of Arab and non-Arab countries, and the distinguished presence of readers of the Levant, Iraq, the Arab Maghreb, the Horn of Africa and the Arab Gulf states, of which the number of participants exceeded 33 readers in this session. He stressed the keenness of the award committee to ensure that the names of the competitors are not repeated, to provide an opportunity for new readers and participants, pointing out that one of the participants won the first prize for the third session was a reader from the Philippines, which shows the breadth of the award and its global dimension. He added that the competitions of the current session are currently being held among the 100 finalists, and the first qualifiers for them are broadcast in 20 episodes, with five readers in each episode, one winner is chosen from among them, and in the semi-final qualifiers, 20 readers, plus five from the reserve, compete for Over the course of five episodes, five readers will qualify, provided that the final episode will be broadcast on the 26th of Ramadan, to determine the owners of the first three positions. The general supervisor explained "Katara Award for Quran Recitation" The award is governed by two committees: the Committee on Rulings and Rules of Tajweed, and it consists of Sheikh Abd al-Rashid Sufi, Sheikh Dr. Ahmed al-Maasrawi, and Sheikh Mahmoud al-Akkawi, and another committee concerned with the sweetness of the voice, represented by Sheikh Bahloul Saeed Abu Arqoub, Mr. Asim Al-Bunni, and Mr. Muhammad Amin Mashali, pointing out Noting that the members of the two arbitration committees are senior readers and specialists, and each of them represents a school in this field. Mr. Khaled Abdul Rahim Al-Sayed praised the continuous and fruitful cooperation between the General Foundation for the Cultural Village / Katara / and the Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs, and the Ministry’s support for organizing this unique award in the best ways and means, stressing the integration of Qatari efforts in serving the Holy Quran, and the message of the Katara Prize for the Holy Quran is also integrated with competitions Other competitions that are held in the country, such as the Sheikh Jassim bin Mohammed bin Thani Holy Qur’an competition, and the Crowns of Light competition on TV.
