The number of building permits issued by various municipalities in the country increased during last March, by 3 percent, to 666 permits, compared to 644 permits, in February 2023. Data from the Planning and Statistics Authority issued today showed that most municipalities in the country recorded an increase in the number of building permits during March. In the past, compared to February 2023, most notably Al Sheehaniya (140 percent), Al Shamal (25 percent), Al Khor (24 percent), Al Rayyan (18 percent), Al Wakrah (3 percent), Al Daayen (2 percent), on the other hand, there was a decrease in my municipality Umm Salal and Doha, with (29 percent) and (15 percent), respectively. According to its geographical distribution, Al Rayyan Municipality came at the forefront of the municipalities in terms of the number of building permits issued, as it issued 184 permits, or 28 percent of the total permits issued, while Al Wakra Municipality came in second place with 131 permits, or 20 percent, followed by Al Daayen Municipality, which issued 126 permits. That is 19 percent, then the Doha municipality with 115 permits, or 17 percent, while the rest of the permits were distributed to Umm Salal 40 permits 6 percent, Al Khor 36 permits 5 percent, Al Sheehaniya 24 permits 4 percent, and Al Shamal 10 permits 2 percent. The data indicates that the number of new building permits (residential and non-residential) constituted 36 percent (240 permits) of the total building permits issued during the month of March 2023, while permits for building additions accounted for 60 percent (402 permits), and finally fencing permits by 4 percent ( 24 licenses). Villas permits topped the list of new residential buildings, accounting for 80 percent (153 permits) of the total number of new residential building permits, followed by apartment buildings with 12 percent (23 permits), then housing loan housing with 6 percent (11 permits). On the other hand, commercial buildings and industrial buildings such as workshops and factories came at the forefront of permits for new non-residential buildings with 41 percent (20 permits) each, followed by government buildings with 8 percent (4 permits), then mosques with 6 percent (3 permits). With regard to building completion certificates issued during March 2023, the data shows a monthly increase of 17 percent to 401 certificates compared to 343 certificates in the previous February. This increase was observed in most municipalities: Al Shamal (500 percent), Al Daayen (30 percent), Al-Rayyan (22 percent), Doha (11 percent), Al-Khor (6 percent), Umm Salal (3 percent), while Al-Wakra municipality recorded a decrease by (2 percent), while Al-Sheehaniya municipality did not witness any change. According to its geographical distribution, Al Rayyan Municipality came at the forefront of municipalities in terms of the number of building completion certificates issued, as it issued 96 certificates, or 24 percent of the total building completion certificates issued, while Al Daayen Municipality came in second place with 87 certificates, or 22 percent, followed by the municipality Al-Wakra, where it issued 81 certificates, or 20 percent, and then Doha Municipality, with 63 certificates, or (16 percent), while the rest of the certificates were distributed to Umm Salal, 30 certificates (7 percent), Al-Khor and North 18 certificates (4 percent) for each municipality, and Al-Sheehaniya 8 certificates. (2 percent). In terms of the type of certificates issued, the data indicates that the number of new building completion certificates (residential and non-residential) constituted 78 percent (313 certificates) of the total building completion certificates issued during March 2023, while certificates of completion of building additions constituted 22 percent (88 certificates). certificate). Villas certificates came at the top of the list of new residential building completions, constituting 84 percent (203 certificates) of the total number of new residential building completion certificates, followed by the housing loan housing category with 7 percent (17 certificates), then apartment buildings with 6 percent (14 certificates). certificate). On the other hand, we note that commercial buildings come at the forefront of certificates of completion of new non-residential buildings by 54 percent (39 certificates), followed by industrial buildings such as workshops and factories by 26 percent (19 certificates), then mosques by 13 percent (9 certificates). Building permit data and building completion certificates are of particular importance, as they are a rough indicator of the performance of the construction sector, which in turn occupies an important place in the national economy. The issuance of this monthly data comes within the framework of coordination between the Planning and Statistics Authority and the Ministry of Municipality, to take advantage of the existing electronic connectivity between the two agencies.
