The launch of the network was in the year 1998, with limited pages confined to the fatwa corner and the library, in an attempt to create a religious window for Muslims around the world on the international information network, seeking to spread the correct Islamic faith, legal sciences, clarifying the correct image of Islam and Muslims, caring for all Muslim issues, and caring for the call of Islam. Over the course of a quarter of a century, and in light of the goals it seeks, the network has become rich and full of millions of electronic pages that include dozens of axes and multiple sections, which made it a comprehensive Islamic portal on the Internet through which millions of people learn about the religion of Islam and Muslim culture.
Among the most important axes and sections included in the main Islamic network website: the Noble Qur’an with the voices of the most famous reciters in the Arab world, and consultations that contain many fields: such as medical, social, educational, youth and psychological consultations, audios, articles, the huge scientific library, boys and girls, inheritance, and specialized subsections on "Hajj and Umrah"And"Ramadan Oasis"And"Gifted mercy" Which is concerned with the biography of the best of mankind, peace and blessings be upon him, in addition to scientific, knowledge and advocacy materials and services that meet the needs of followers, Muslims and non-Muslims.
The Islamic Network website has also been interested in increasing the number of languages ​​supported on the site, as the network’s content has become broadcast in six live languages ​​spoken by most of the world’s population, in addition to Arabic: English, French, Spanish, German, and Indonesian. It includes a site "Consulting" The Islamic network currently has about 200,000 medical, psychological, social and other consultations, while the fatwa website has recorded nearly 300,000 different legal fatwas, in addition to various cultural articles that exceed 70,000 articles.
The audio site also includes more than half a million audio files, distributed over Quranic recordings, lectures, lessons, explanations, practical texts, supplications and remembrances, religious chants, educational materials, Friday sermons, audiobooks, and other useful religious and cultural audio files.
In light of this expansion of materials, services and languages, the number of pages of the site increased to more than 8 million pages, and the number of viewed pages exceeded two billion pages, providing advocacy, legal, educational and value knowledge through the various sections of the site.
The Islamic library in "Islam Web" It is one of the largest electronic libraries in the world, as it covers the majors of Islamic sciences with its various branches, such as acts of worship, transactions, and legal etiquette, in addition to the principles of jurisprudence, the interpretation of the Holy Qur’an, the terminology of hadith, biography, belief, and history, in addition to many contemporary books, and a huge amount of translations of scholars from People of knowledge and virtue, and the number of its pages reaches nearly 5 million pages.
The website of the electronic library, Islam Web, is characterized by the ease of browsing books and displaying them in a manner that allows the user to access partial information for the various legal sciences, by hyperlinking the contents of the library, as well as excellence in research through indexes, and the graduation of hadiths by attributing them to their sources, and other features.
During the past year, the network launched the library application, which contains more than 700,000 pages, 30,000 subject titles, two million subject links, and more than 400,000 transcripts of hadiths.
In 2021, the Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs launched the audio application on smart devices, after the great success achieved by the audio site, which attracts millions of visitors annually.
One of the important applications of the Islamic network is the application" asceticism " For tablets and smart phones, it is a program that specializes in explaining the rituals of Hajj and Umrah with modern educational means and interactive methods.
The application contains a full explanation of the rituals of Hajj and Umrah, and an interactive map showing the rituals and the direction of the pilgrims in the holy sites, as well as video scenes of the Hajj, and audio files of a number of scholars and lecturers on Hajj and Umrah.
The Islamic Network has also succeeded in launching other rich applications such as fatwas, consultations, an encyclopedia of Islamic biography and history, interpretation of the Qur’an in Spanish, and an encyclopedia of hadith.
In the context of caring for people with disabilities, the Islamic Network worked on launching and developing the Deaf Project, which aims to achieve equality between the deaf and the hearing in spreading religious awareness in their language (sign language).
The project includes a wide range of various visual files and their translation in Arabic and international sign languages ​​for all categories of the deaf, in order to turn the site into a basic reference for the deaf in the Arab and Islamic world and all countries of the world, within the framework of the continuous development plan for the deaf website in IslamWeb, and its interest in the category of people with special needs .
Excellence did not stop at the content limits, rather the site’s administrators took care of the quality of design and ease of use to comply with the nature of each of its sections, taking into account the different categories of users, and being keen on diversity in different fonts, colors, images and designs, and achieving the required homogeneity technically and objectively, which makes access to information More comfortable and easy.
In light of this distinction, the Islamic Network has proven its global leadership over the past years, and its achievements have recorded a global resonance, which strengthened its ability to continue and develop, as it won multiple awards, the most important of which was the award for the best e-learning product at the World Summit on the Information Society in Tunis in the year (2005), Where the site got the first place in the field of e-learning for Arab sites.
The network also won for the second time the World Summit on Information Society Award for high-quality products as the best interactive educational entertainment website for Arabic-speaking children (Venice 2007). At the level of the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf, the site was able to obtain the award for the best website in terms of content at the regional level in (2009) during the first Gulf Conference for e-Government in the Sultanate of Oman.
The site continues its global leadership, as indicated by the numbers of visitors that reach millions annually, and search indicators on the Internet, based on a continuous development process that responds to new technologies and takes advantage of new media, in light of the support provided by the Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs represented by the General Directorate of Endowments.
