In 2022, residents of Ryazan often turned to the regional human rights ombudsman about the work of medical commissions in military registration and enlistment offices. This was announced by the ombudsman of the Ryazan region Natalya Epikhina in a report on her activities last year.
A resident of Ryazan told Epikhina that his brother had been drafted into the army despite having heart problems. After the ombudsman appealed to the military registration and enlistment office, the decision was overturned.
The man also informed the commissioner of his son’s deteriorating state of health after being drafted as part of a partial mobilization. The young man was operated on, but the decision to appeal was not reversed. Epikhina turned to the regional military enlistment office, the military prosecutor’s office of the Ryazan garrison. Based on the results of the appeal review, the decision to appeal was reversed.
According to the Ombudsman, due to problems in the organization of the work of the medical commissions, these problems were of a systemic nature. It should be noted that in the Shatsk district, a medical examination was organized from the first day of partial mobilization.
