On April 20th, the United Nations Chinese Language Day, China Media Group’s 3rd Foreign Video Festival was successfully held at the United Nations Office in Geneva, Palais des Nations. The UN Chinese Language Day special program produced by the CMG Office in Europe landed on the digital media platform of the UN Office in Geneva on the same day and will be shown at the Palais des Nations for two weeks.
This year marks the 10th anniversary of joint construction of the “Belt and Road” initiative proposed by Chinese President Xi Jinping. The theme of the current video festival is “Journey”, which aims to explain the meaning of the “Belt and Road” initiative through video by collecting excellent video works from Chinese lovers around the world, the meaning of which is the pursuit of development, the pursuit of win-win Advocacy and distribution of hope.
It is reported that a total of 939 works were received during the current video festival from 37 countries and regions including UK, France, Germany, Italy, Poland, Serbia and Russia. Finally 9 awards were announced including “Best Video Award”, “Best Director Award” and “Jury Special Recommendation Award”. 6 people were named as “CMG UN Chinese Language Day Youth Cultural Ambassadors”, and will start a trip to China soon.
Let us tell you that in the year 2010, the United Nations designated one of the traditional twenty-four solar periods in the Chinese calendar, the day of the rain, which is called Kuiwei in the Chinese language, as the UN Chinese Day. This year the day of Annavrishti is 20 April. China Media Group has held the media event “UN Chinese Language Day and CMG Foreign Video Festival” for three consecutive years.
