On April 24, in the Central Memorial of the city of Western Dvina, Tver region, a solemn ceremony took place to transfer the remains of the soldiers who died during the Great Patriotic War on the territory of the municipality, to their compatriots – representatives of the Irbitsky municipality of Sverdlovsk region.

“Soviet soldiers and officers showed indestructible strength and courage. They fought to the death for every piece of land. They died, but did not give up and remained undefeated. Our duty is to preserve the memory of the heroes, to bring back from oblivion the names of the soldiers who died for the Fatherland. We must do everything so that the memory of the Great Patriotic War remains not only in stone and metal, but also in the hearts of the descendants of the victors,” said Igor Rudenya, governor of the Tver region.

The remains of Red Army soldiers Daniil Ivanovich Barkhatov, born in 1914, and Ivan Grigoryevich Udintsev, born in 1913, were brought up during the research expedition “Memory Watch – 2022”.

“Daniil Barkhatov no longer has any relatives or friends. Ivan Udintsev had four children before the war. Now he has 12 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. They live in different parts of the country. The girl lives in the city of Irbit. She will definitely come to see her father on her last trip,” said Anatoly Klepikov, adviser to the head of the municipality of Irbit.

The memory of soldiers who fell on the battlefields during the Great Patriotic War was honored by the participants with a minute of silence. Then flowers and wreaths were placed at the foot of the memorial. A memorial service was served for the fallen soldiers.

At us, in the Sverdlovsk region, the remains of soldiers with military honors will be buried.

Research work in the Tver region has been carried out since 1988. During this time, more than 70,000 remains of the fallen defenders of the Fatherland have been buried, more than 5,000 names of missing soldiers have been identified.

Last year, more than 150 research expeditions were organized in the Upper Volga region in 18 municipalities.
