New gas meter verification rules from May 1 will reduce the likelihood of overpayments and help expose fraudsters, lawyer Elena Kuderko told a Prime correspondent.
According to the new GOST, when checking, the master will be able to find out whether magnetic devices have already been installed on the meter that distort the readings. In case of a positive conclusion, a relevant act will be sent to the gas company and an inspection will begin.
The new rules are introduced not only for economic reasons but also for safety reasons, as strict verification requirements can help prevent gas leaks.
In the event of a meter malfunction, the gas charge will be billed according to the standard, and it is generally much higher than the actual consumption. In the event of counter fraud, a heavy fine threatens.
Earlier it became known that the Russians were informed about the change in the schedule for payment of pensions in May.
