Moroccan Wydad in the Golden Square of African Champions

Simba had won the first leg with the same result in Dar es Salaam.

Wydad al-Ummah condemns its qualification to its Senegalese striker Pauly Sambo, author of the only goal of the game, and to goalkeeper Youssef Mutei, author of two shots on goal, who qualified the defending champion.

Wydad reached the semi-finals for the fifth consecutive season, where they secured a date in the golden square with the winner of the confrontation between Mamelodi Sundowns of South Africa and Al-Shabab Athletic Belouizdad of Algeria, and Sundowns won the first leg 4-1 in Algeria.

A penalty shootout ends the game

The Moroccan team showed their intentions to remedy their defeat in the first leg early, putting strong pressure on the goal of the Tanzanian team, especially after finding their Senegalese striker Pauly Sambo, supported by Jalal Daoudi, Ayman Al- Hassouni, Saif Al-Din. Bohra, international midfielder Yahya Gebran and international full-back Yahya Atiyatallah, in addition to the support of his wide fans. On the other hand, the Brazilian coach of Simba, Roberto Oliveira Gonçalves, bet on the intensification of his elements in the midfield, betting on quick counterattacks and shots from distance, led by the top scorer Jean Palecki, only injured in the first leg, and Zambians Clatus Shama and Denis Kebo. Ayman Al-Hassouni tried to grab the first goal, but his powerful shot went over the goal (13). Al-Hassouni sent a deep pass to Sambo, but Tanzanian goalkeeper Ali Juma saved the ball for a corner (15). Pressure from ‘Wydad Al-Umma’ led to the opener when Atiyatullah sent in a cross which was not saved by defender Shumare Kabomby, so Sambo caught it with a powerful header, cheating the keeper Goma, and he settled in his own net (25). This is Sambo’s fourth goal in the competition (not counting the first round). Hisham Bousfian passed a cross, which the Senegalese Sambo transformed into a goal, and the Tanzanian goalkeeper pushed him away with his buffers for a corner (33rd). Balicki almost hit the net of Moroccan goalkeeper Youssef Moti’, with a header that went wide of the goal after a corner (38th). Atiyatullah hit a curve ball, which was caught by goalkeeper Juma (43rd). The homeowners continued to dominate in the second half of the match, and Chadian referee Al-Hadaji canceled a goal scored by Ayman Al-Hassouni for offside (52). Coach Garrido threw away all his attacking cards, as he pushed forward the duo Mohamed Onajem and midfielder Abdullah Haymoud, hoping to settle the result, but the Tanzanian defense held firm, preventing Goma’s goal from being reached. The Spaniard also involved striker Zuhair Al-Muradi in the final minutes with no change in the result despite the favorable points, including from Ayman Al-Hassouni, as he headed the ball towards goal, but Simba’s defense saved the day. Both teams resorted to penalties, as Wydad Yahya Gebran, Ayoub Al-Amoud, Amin Abu Al-Fath and Abdullah Haymoud scored, while Simba Erasto Nyonyi, Saidy Ntibazunkisa and Zambian Moses Phiri scored, while which Shumari Kabumbi and Zambian Clatus Shama missed.
