Nine people die in India from unknown gas leak

At least 9 people have died and 11 are in medical facilities after a gas leak in India’s Punjab state, local officials said.

“Probably a gas leak. A National Disaster Response Team is on site to evacuate people and carry out a rescue operation, Ludhiana Police Commissioner Mandeep Singh Sidhu told Indian TV. .

Specialists will have to establish the source of the leak and the type of substance, reports RIA Novosti.

Earlier, Glavny Regionalny reported that on April 28, Russians were informed about new gas meter verification rules, which come into effect on May 1. According to the new GOST, when checking, the master will be able to find out whether magnetic devices have already been installed on the meter that distort the readings. In case of a positive conclusion, a relevant act will be sent to the gas company and an inspection will begin.
