Experts in ancient traditions told the Russians about what could not be done on May 3 in Rus’ on the day of the Call of the Ancestors.
It is believed that the dead remember their earthly life and mourn for it. On this day, it is customary in Orthodox churches to honor the memory of Fyodor Trikhina.
In Rus’, on this day, they visited cemeteries, called out relatives who had gone to another world. It was believed that on this day souls could come into the world, and therefore it was customary to set the table to show the deceased that their relatives did not need anything in the world.
People paid special attention to signs. If it was raining on May 3, then clear weather should have been expected. If there was a rainbow in the sky, then rain will follow.
