Bangalore. Indian men’s hockey team captain Harmanpreet Singh on Wednesday said incorporating yoga into his weekly routine yielded amazing results and helped him maintain focus and gain flexibility.
Harmanpreet said, “This year is very busy for us and we have to take part in frequent competitions, so we are working on keeping ourselves fresh mentally and physically. Yoga is included in our weekly schedule. And it helped us a lot in maintaining our focus and at the same time gaining flexibility.
The Indian team is currently preparing for the European leg of the FIH Hockey Pro League under the supervision of newly appointed coach Craig Fulton. Fulton hails from South Africa. Harmanpreet said, “We had our first meeting with our new head coach Craig Fulton on Saturday morning. He brings new energy to each season and he has great plans for us this year.
He said, “We are in a good rhythm at the moment. We have done well in the domestic matches of the Pro League and we want to play in the European stage with the same confidence. India will play Pro League matches against Belgium and Great Britain in London later this month and then in Eindhoven in June. Will face Argentina and Netherlands.
After the Pro League, India will host the Asian Champions Trophy in Chennai in August followed by the Asian Games in China in September.
