ATOR Vice President Artur Muradyan believes pressure on airlines to fly to Russia from Georgia will be strong

Of course, the noise of the information will be rather negative on the part of the opposition, of the European integrators. And the fact that they will try to disrupt the launch of flights is also a fact. On the other hand, the tourism infrastructure is fundamentally depoliticized. We were already expecting an organized flow of tourists from Russia! They will wait!

Another thing is that the pressure on the airlines, which on the Georgian side will want to fly to Russia, is likely to be quite strong. And the underlying reason is still not entirely clear, based on statements made yesterday by representatives of the United States and the European Union. Maybe then we should also impose sanctions on Arab countries, since they are flying to Russia?! That is to say that there is a European duplicity.

According to my observations, the Georgian population has a normal attitude towards Russians. Although the integration with our country has dropped lately, it is still at a very high level. The entire elderly population of Georgia speaks Russian, many have relatives in Russia. Therefore, air communication is necessary not only for Russian tourists, but also for Georgians. The fact that visa restrictions have been lifted is a step towards the ordinary people of Georgia, not towards the political regime. Russia is now an important integration with all neighbors with which there are borders.

The number of flights announced by Russia is negligible, so it will have no effect on the tourist flow until we see the schedule established for the summer season by Russian and Georgian air carriers. Rosaviatsia has already announced seven flights per week. But so far it was only about Moscow. So far we have not heard from Georgian carriers about their desire and requests, to which Russian cities they would like to fly. A more precise flight program, it seems to me, will appear in two to three weeks.
