Russia will increase arms production as much as possible. This was stated by Deputy Chairman of the Security Council of the Russian Federation Dmitry Medvedev, commenting on the decision of the State Duma to denounce the Treaty on Conventional Armed Forces in Europe (CFE).
The State Duma denounced the CFE Treaty. That’s where it’s expensive. This document lost its relevance for us in 2007. But now, even in line with previously suspended international obligations, nothing prevents us from putting our weapons where we want to protect our national interests. Including our Russian part of Europe,” Medvedev wrote in his telegram.
The politician added that Russia will maximize the production of weapons, military and special equipment, as well as weapons of destruction.
Earlier, State Duma Chairman Vyacheslav Volodin announced denunciation of the CFE treaty by deputies, calling NATO a “wolf in sheep’s clothing”.
