“The procession did not include any American citizens,” police spokesman Ikenga Tuchokwu told AFP.
The spokesperson pointed out that the gunmen “killed two members of the mobile police and two members of the consulate”, before burning their car.
In Washington, US National Security Council spokesman John Kirby confirmed that a US convoy in Nigeria had been attacked and no US citizens were injured.
