Beijing. A Chinese fishing boat has sunk in the central part of the Indian Ocean, leaving 39 crew members missing. China’s official media reported about this on Wednesday.
The crew members include 17 from China, 17 from Indonesia and five from the Philippines, state-run CGTN reported. The boat capsized at around 3 am on Tuesday. According to reports, none of the missing have been traced so far and the search is on.
Meanwhile, Chinese President Xi Jinping and Premier Li Keqiang have ordered an all-out effort to search for the missing people. According to the news of the state-run Xinhua news agency, Xi immediately ordered the relevant departments to establish an emergency response mechanism after the incident. The vessel, named ‘Lupenglaiyuanyu No. 8’, was operated by Penglaiyingyu Co., Ltd. and operated in the maritime zone of the eastern province of Shandong.
