France besieges the activities of the Brotherhood and freezes 25 million euros of their money

Experts who spoke to “Sky News Arabia” from Paris expected France to expand its measures against the group in the coming days to witness security prosecutions and the confiscation of more funds, and that it could take a court order to ban the organization and confiscate all activities of its affiliated institutions.

Researcher and political analyst Joan Souz, a member of the French Syndicate of Journalists known as ‘SNJ’, said in a statement to ‘Sky News Arabia’ that the measures taken by France are not only targeting the Brotherhood, given that it does not appear either to carry out its activities as an “Organization of the Brotherhood”, but through several religious, cultural and social institutions active in France and promoting the extremist ideas of the group.

Souz says the decision is aimed at limiting the activities of the terrorist organization and suppressing it.

He considers that the repercussions of such measures in France will not be direct, adding: “This procedure will be followed by the control of all the activities of these organizations, and if it turns out that they have participated in hostile or terrorist, or encouraged violence, the authorities will close them down or dissolve them permanently. »

Souz cites a not-so-distant example of the French procedures followed in such cases, when French authorities took the decision to ban the organization of “grey wolves” in 2020.

According to the researcher, this organization works according to the same mechanism followed by the Brotherhood, that is, it operates under the guise of other cultural, social and religious institutions, and there was not a single organization which bore the name “Grey Wolves” or “Brotherhood”.

Strict procedures

French authorities are currently carrying out a wide-ranging investigation into the funding sources of the ConfrĂ©rie in France, according to the French newspaper “Figaro”. France’s Directorate General for Homeland Security had identified about 20 private donation funds that it considered to be carrying out suspicious fundraising activities. The Minister of the Interior, GĂ©rald Darmana, has launched a large-scale investigation into these funds since the fall of 2021, after the vote on the anti-separatism law which provides for respect for the principles of the republic.

What do the surveys reveal?

Investigative leaks revealed that these funds were created in 2008 and were intended to raise private funds, since the endowment funds were not closely monitored by the authorities. Political Islam has exploited it to finance its various activities away from the limelight and through a complex and opaque mechanism. The investigation monitored a dozen networks controlled by the “FraternitĂ©” group, extending from the city of Lille in the north to the city of Marseille in the south, passing through the Paris region and the Bordeaux region. An in-depth investigation uncovered some twenty endowment funds, eight of which were banned.
