The meteor lit up the Townsville area in far north Queensland, northeast Australia.
Several shots taken at different locations in the area showed a huge flash after the meteorite fell.
One of the residents, Brandon Scar, said he was saying goodbye to his friends outside the houses when they noticed the dazzling scene in the sky.
He added: “We were in shock as it literally turned into daylight.”
The meteorite is believed to have occurred somewhere in the far northwest of the state.
Meteorite falls are not uncommon here, so some considered people who watched the video like to count themselves lucky.
