New Delhi. Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar on Wednesday said that India is moving ahead on the path of unprecedented development and by 2047 it will become a ‘Vishwa Guru’. India would be celebrating the 100th anniversary of its independence in 2047.
Dhankhar stressed that the country’s economic progress and its security are closely linked and forces like the Border Security Force (BSF) are the custodians of India’s “overall development”. The Vice President was here to deliver the BSF’s annual ‘Rustomji Memorial Lecture’. was addressing. This lecture was delivered by the first Chief of BSF, K.F. Rustomji, who was the Director General of the force during 1965-74 with a strength of 3.25 lakh.
Formed in 1965, the BSF is responsible for guarding the borders with Pakistan and Bangladesh. Dhankhar said national security is the “cornerstone” of the country’s progressive prosperity and the development that should have happened earlier is happening now. “You see what kind of road infrastructure we have, what kind of technical partnership is happening, what kind of weapons are being provided and what kind of facilities are being created for human resources… It is not a compulsion. No, it is our duty (to security forces like BSF).”
Dhankhar said he is “satisfied” that these issues are being addressed. He said India is growing like “unprecedented progress” and this steady growth will go to higher levels and by 2047 India will be the “world’s largest economy”. Guru’. The Vice President said, “About a decade ago we were the 11th largest economy, however, in September 2022 we will overtake the UK to become the fifth largest and by the end of this decade we will become the third largest.” ”
