On May 24, the premiere of the play “Heart of a Dog. Preobrazhensky” directed by director Artem Bibilyurov, timed to coincide with the birthday of the great writer. The piece was created with a grant from the Presidential Fund for Cultural Initiatives.

The action of the show takes place in two worlds that constantly collide and intertwine, emphasizing the main qualities of the characters and the meaning of the events. What will result in a violent intervention in human nature? Professor Preobrazhensky’s gleaming blade on the debonair and devoted canine heart will inevitably trigger a series of events from a monstrous story that was banned three months after its birth in 1925.

The transitions from 1925 to the present day are made through the reflections of Professor Preobrazhensky, as a key character in the story. That’s why the play is called “Heart of a Dog. Preobrazhensky”. The parallel between the eras makes it possible to better understand the intention of the author, to “hear” his questions: Where is the line beyond which it is impossible to go? And what is the degree of responsibility of each who has assumed the role of the Creator?

The director’s idea of drawing a parallel between Sharikov and modern scientific research and inventions makes the very idea and theme of Mikhail Bulgakov’s story more understandable.
Spectators will be able to attend the performance on May 24 and June 19 at 7:00 p.m.
