Ali Najeeb, 37, recovers pieces of wood from beaches or landfills and transforms them into furniture, in a recycling process not devoid of know-how and know-how.
Najeeb was influenced by his grandfather, who grew up and saw in his house a small carpentry workshop in which he learned this trade, to make it his profession thereafter.
On this subject, the artist, Ali Naguib, told Sky News Arabia: “I have been doing woodworking since I was a child. There was a small carpentry workshop in my grandfather’s house, so I used to do some jobs there, like cleaning wood and cleaning the workshop, and later I developed my own skills and educated myself by watching online videos and I am a carpenter full time now.”
In his spare time, Najeeb recycles unused wood into useful items like candle holders and furniture, which he donates or sells for a fraction of the price.
“In my spare time, I like to use leftover wood and tree branches and recycle them to make beautiful accessories or gifts with this type of wood,” Najeeb added.
Naguib combines his passion for art and environmental preservation, and believes that his work gives discarded pieces of wood new life, instead of throwing them in the trash.
