Roman Golovchenko confirmed that currently “problems with using the northern direction for transshipment of Belarusian export goods through local infrastructure” are being actively resolved. And during the current visit to this largest city located beyond the Arctic Circle, the Belarusians, according to him, intend to make a final strategic decision.
All the preparatory work has already been done, confirmed the Prime Minister, large volumes of information have been collected on different options. And when “a strategic decision will be taken, it will have to be developed quickly in terms of interaction between legal entities and financial and economic issues”, he explained the format of the missions to come.
And although the solution is still being worked out, Golovchenko noted, cooperation in the transport and logistics sector is already continuing as usual. According to official statistics, “last year the volume of Belarusian cargo transhipped through Murmansk amounted to just over 30,000 tons, and by the end of four months of this year it has already exceeded 95,000 tons” .
