In China, in the city of Chengdu, Sichuan province, the Museum of Foreign Sister Cities with an exhibition on Tatarstan now operates permanently. Exhibitions for the exhibition pavilion of the Consul General of the People’s Republic of China in Kazan, Mr. Xiang Bo handed over Deputy Prime Minister – Head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Tatarstan, expert of the Russian-Chinese Committee for Friendship, Peace and Development Oleg Korobchenko.
In 2023, the exhibition with a separate stand of Tatarstan became permanent and free for the people of the world to visit.
The pavilion was opened by Li Yunze, First Vice Governor of Sichuan Province, Ju Chunxu, Deputy Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress of Sichuan Province, Oyang Zehua, Vice Chairman of the Political Advisory Council of the Sichuan Province, Teng Jongping, Vice Chief of Sichuan Government Secretariat, and representatives of the Hong Kong Government and Macao Government in Chengdu, representatives of the State Development and Reform Committee of Sichuan Province , Sichuan Provincial Education Bureau, Heads of Finance Department, Commerce Department, Culture and Tourism Department, Provincial Economy Cooperation Bureau, Provincial Foreign Friendship Association, Provincial Council of Trade Promotion, Overseas Provincial Chinese Association and other divisions. The ceremony was attended by consuls general of Austria, Chile, as well as consuls general of other countries in Chengdu and heads of foreign relations offices of 21 Chinese cities.
The Tatarstan exposition included about 40 exhibits. Among them: national Tatar costumes and shoes for men and women, the national musical instrument “Kurai”, national Tatar jewelry and embroidery, skullcap, kalfak, dishes with national ornaments, as well as models of the MI-38 helicopter, KAMAZ, a model of the Kazan Kremlin, Tatar treats chak-chak, etc.
“Russia and China have long been good neighbors, friends and brotherly peoples. I am very happy that the Distinguished Consul General of the People’s Republic of China in Kazan is helping businesses in Tatarstan and the republic as a whole to interact with China not only in industry, but also in other areas. The opening of a permanent exhibition indicates that we are developing our cooperation in trade, economic and cultural spheres,” said Oleg Korobchenko. — In 2021, we celebrated the 5th anniversary of the signing of an agreement on the establishment of twinning relations between the Republic of Tatarstan and the province of Sichuan. Thanks to the Chinese side, we have the opportunity to present the cultural and historical wealth of Tatarstan in the museum of this province. It is a great honor for us, for our republic, to represent our culture in China.
Earlier, the Deputy Prime Minister especially thanked the Consul General of the People’s Republic of China in Kazan, Mr. Xiang Bo, for his help in transporting the exhibits to the exhibition hall. “I hope Tatarstan’s permanent stand will help show our republic to more people, attract foreign tourists, students, experts to further develop cooperation in various fields,” the minister said.
