Turner’s spokesperson said she died peacefully after a long illness at her home in Kusnacht, near Zurich, Switzerland.
Turner began her career in the 1950s, during the early years of rock and roll, and became an MTV phenomenon.
White House spokeswoman Karen Jean-Pierre said Turner’s death was “extremely sad news” and a huge loss for all who loved him and for the music industry.
Sometimes called the “Queen of Rock and Roll”, Turner won six Grammy Awards in the 1980s.
Turner has won eight Grammy Awards throughout her career.
And dozens of his songs were on the Top 40 Songs list, such as (Typical Mel), (The Best), (Private Dancer), and (Bettery Good To Me).
180,000 people attended his concert in Rio de Janeiro in 1988.
