From 2014, the gold and silver medals for graduates of Russian schools were replaced by a unified federal medal “For special achievements in education”. The money will be returned from the next academic year.
As the head of the Ministry of Education Sergey Kravtsov reminded, graduates will receive gold for a certificate in which they will be “excellent” in all subjects.
The silver medal will be awarded to schoolchildren who have received no more than two fours at the end of graduation.
During this time, the federal medal “For special achievements in teaching” will also remain. And in any case, according to the minister, each of these awards will be of great help for further admission to universities.
