The second qualifier between Gujarat Titans and Mumbai Indians at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad has not started due to rain till the time of writing this news. The match was to start at 7.30 and the toss was to be held at 7 but due to heavy rain, the toss has not happened yet.
What are the playing conditions of IPL due to rain?
The playoff match can start at 9.40 pm without reducing the number of overs (with 10-minute intervals and time-outs). In a playoff match, the number of overs may be reduced, if necessary, so that each side gets at least 5 overs to bat. A match of five overs per side can be started as late as 11.56 pm (10-minute intervals, no timeouts) but must be over by 12.50. If even 5 overs play is not possible due to rain and conditions permit, a Super Over can be played to decide the winner. If the super over is also not held, then the team having more points after 70 matches of the tournament will be considered as the winner of this match.
However, the good news is that the rain has stopped and the covers have been removed from the ground. In such a situation, the match can start soon.
